The Arc

I recently started going to the Arc again to run and lift. Their cardio room which contains weights is too small for the amount of people that go there and it is always packed. I usuallly go during the late afternoon about four or five and it always seems to be packed at this time of day. On the upside of things I tried the climbing wall for the first time this week and it was harder than i thought but quite an experience and I am glad i tried it. Overall the arc is a great oppurtunity for both social and physical activites but in my opinion could use a little more space due to the amount of people that are taking advantage of the oppurtunity.

  1. I agree with you. I have been going to the arc for a while now and it's always packed in late afternoon. It is terrible to have a good lifting curcuit, because there are always people waiting on machines. It would be so nice just to have enough space and equipment for more people. One good bench is not enough for 9000 students. I mean think about it there are something like 9000 studnets that go to the rock, wouldn't you think there would be two weight rooms. I know IUP has two weight room and they don't have much more students than what we do. We pay a lot of money to go here and I think we deserve another workout room. It would decrease the crowds and make it so much easier and simplar to workout.

  2. The ARC is always packed to the fullest, it's frustrating. It is hard to get in a full workout to your satisfactory because you can never get the machine you want or the right free weights. I agree with how much of a workout the rock wall is, it is outstanding. My personal favorite, however, is the hockey set up in Gym B where I can get my Sidney Crosby on.

  3. If you go to the ARC in the early morning or during a long break to work out there are usually not too many people there. That's what I do and it works out perfectly. The rock wall is always open though it weird. I don't like going during the mid afternoon, I did that last year and it was awful I could never get a full workout.

  4. The arc is a pain sometimes. I do believe we have a very good lifting facility compared to other Division 3 schools. The basketball courts I sometimes think is ridiculus because they HAVE to have a volleyball and badmitton net up even if nobody is using it. Then you have people wanting to play basketball have 2 courts and have to wait for 6 games then people get into it because they say they wait longer!
